In 2019 Kate Maxwell and I--both creativity coaches and unpublished writers who'd met on Instagram--started having creative accountability calls where we talked through our challenges and shared inspiration and encouragement for each others’ creative process.

Over the course of the pandemic, these conversations helped us stay grounded and committed to our fiction and other creative projects despite the world being in lockdown! We helped each other get unstuck, see our work through new perspectives, and experimented on ways to keep a sense of play alive in our work.

We thought our conversations could be useful to other creatives who are also exploring how to create with less pressure and more pleasure, and Idle Writers Club was born!
